Logan Square Residential Rooftop Oasis
Logan Square Private Rooftop Retreat | Chicago Rooftop Design & Installation
This private residential rooftop deck in Logan Square, Chicago serves as a natural extension of the homeowners’ interior, creating a one-of-a-kind elevated retreat for working from home, gardening, and birdwatching near Humboldt Park.
Rooftopia led the full rooftop design and installation, centering the space around a custom Renson louvered pergola. The pergola features integrated lighting for day-to-night use and provides adjustable shade and weather protection, making the rooftop comfortable and functional throughout the seasons. To enhance privacy while maintaining a strong architectural presence, we designed and installed custom steel privacy screens, carefully patterned to echo the wallpaper inside the home, creating a thoughtful visual connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The rooftop is thoughtfully furnished for both everyday use and entertaining, featuring Brown Jordan outdoor furniture, a custom fire table, and a bespoke bar seating area designed for casual gatherings. The fire table, bar top, and dining surface are unified by a shared Dekton countertop finish, creating a cohesive and refined look throughout the space. To bring the rooftop to life, Rooftopia installed a curated mix of perennial and annual plantings in Tau planter box containers, adding seasonal color, texture, and habitat for local birds and pollinators.
To maintain a clean, modern aesthetic, we also designed and installed a custom aluminum wall with Knotwood cladding to discreetly screen the AC and utility area—blending durability with warmth and architectural detail.
The result is a highly personal Chicago rooftop garden and outdoor living space that supports daily work-from-home life while celebrating nature, thoughtful design, and craftsmanship. This Logan Square rooftop is a perfect example of how intentional planning and custom solutions can transform underutilized rooftops into beautiful, functional urban sanctuaries.
