Wrigleyville Secret Garden – Residential Rooftop Deck & Native Garden Design
This private rooftop oasis in Wrigleyville was developed, designed, and constructed by Rooftopia, drawing inspiration from the client's love of The Secret Garden. The project transformed a structural blank slate into a year-round luxury outdoor living space.
Project Scope & Structural Foundation
The project began with a structural overhaul, as Rooftopia collaborated with architects and engineers to ensure that the new deck would meet all necessary safety and permitting requirements. This foundation phase was critical to supporting the innovative design elements that follow.

Custom floor tiles by Cosentino's Dekton, providing a sleek and durable base
Naturalistic curved planters from ORE Designs filled with native perennials and ornamental trees
Custom metal screens and Knotwood materials that ensure safety, privacy, and conceal utilities
Enhanced biodiversity through native landscaping that supports beneficial wildlife

The rooftop retreat centers on a fully equipped Urban Bonfire outdoor kitchen, including:
Sink and prep area
Hestan professional-grade grill
Refrigeration
Custom louvered pergolas by Renson with integrated lighting, heaters, and audio/video system
Luxury furniture from Brown Jordan for sophisticated gathering spaces
Year-Round Usability & Secondary Spaces
To extend the use of the space throughout the year, Rooftopia installed custom louvered pergolas and retractable screens by Renson, featuring integrated climate control and entertainment capabilities. The front balcony serves as a secondary area, featuring seasonal planters and a retractable awning, adding both function and beauty.
