Rooftopia developed and built a truly one-of-a-kind rooftop paradise spanning two roof levels at this prestigious Michigan Avenue residence. Featuring 360° city and lake views, a custom 18-foot bar ledge, and a luxury outdoor kitchen, this project represents the pinnacle of urban outdoor design and engineering.
Design Inspiration & Development
The design was inspired by the gorgeous historical architecture of the building, reflecting its iconic character while introducing contemporary luxury. The design and development process began approximately one year before permitting and construction could begin, ensuring every detail aligned with both the client's vision and the building's architectural heritage.
Custom Pergola & Structural Engineering
The project's most impressive logistical achievement was the custom steel and ipe pergola assembly. Rooftopia's installation teams mobilized over 100 individual pieces of steel and ipe pergola, hand-carrying each piece through a small elevator and stair access for onsite assembly and fabrication. This meticulous approach ensured perfect fit and finish in this constrained urban environment.
